1280 × 1024 HD Thermal Imaging

At the heart of the Pulsar Avilume XT50 Pro is an impressive 1280 × 1024, 12µm HD thermal sensor, delivering exceptional thermal detail and allowing subtle heat signatures to stand out against the surrounding environment.

Thermal imaging can transform the way wildlife is located. Instead of relying entirely on movement, colour or visible light, the Avilume XT50 Pro detects the heat emitted by animals, helping observers locate wildlife that may otherwise remain hidden by natural camouflage or partially obscured by vegetation.

With a thermal detection range of up to 2,300 metres, the Avilume XT50 Pro is equally suited to scanning extensive open habitats, woodland edges, wetlands and agricultural landscapes.

Its excellent <20mK sNETD thermal sensitivity also helps retain useful thermal detail during more difficult environmental conditions such as fog, rain and high humidity.

4K Digital Day & Night Wildlife Observation

Finding an animal is only part of wildlife observation — identifying it accurately is equally important.

Once a heat signature has been located using thermal imaging, users can switch to the Avilume XT50 Pro's 4K digital imaging channel for detailed visual observation.

During daylight the digital sensor provides crisp, full-colour imagery, continuing to perform as available light falls through dusk and twilight before transitioning to high-contrast monochrome night vision.

For observation in complete darkness, the integrated focusable infrared illuminator provides additional illumination for the digital night vision channel.

This combination makes the Avilume XT50 Pro an extremely capable day and night wildlife observation binocular, providing one device for use from early morning surveys through to nocturnal wildlife monitoring.

Thermal + Digital Picture-in-Picture

The Avilume XT50 Pro's Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode allows its thermal and digital technologies to work together.

One imaging channel can be displayed as the primary image while the second appears within a smaller viewing window. Users can then quickly swap between the two.

This is particularly useful during wildlife surveys and species identification, allowing thermal imaging to maintain awareness of an animal's heat signature while the digital channel provides additional visual information.

Wide 17.5° Thermal Field of View

Successful wildlife observation often depends on being able to search an area efficiently.

The Avilume XT50 Pro combines its powerful 50mm f/1.0 germanium objective lens with an exceptionally wide 17.5° thermal field of view, allowing large areas of habitat to be scanned without constantly moving the binoculars from side to side.

The digital channel offers a narrower 5.8° field of view, providing a more focused image when detailed identification and observation are required.

The result is an effective combination: wide-area thermal detection followed by detailed digital identification.

Thermal & Digital Magnification

The Pulsar Wildlife Avilume XT50 Pro provides flexible magnification across both imaging systems:

  • Thermal magnification: 2–16×
  • Digital magnification: 6.5–26×

The low 2× base thermal magnification works particularly well with the wide thermal field of view when searching habitats for wildlife. Once an animal has been detected, magnification can be increased or the observer can switch to the digital channel for closer examination.

Integrated 1,500m Laser Rangefinder

An integrated laser rangefinder (LRF) allows observers to establish the distance to wildlife and other objects quickly and accurately.

With a measuring capability of up to 1,500 metres and accuracy of ±1 metre, the LRF provides valuable contextual information during ecological surveys, wildlife research, habitat monitoring and long-distance wildlife observation.

Electronic Image Stabilisation

The Avilume XT50 Pro incorporates Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) to help reduce the effects of hand movement and image shake.

This becomes particularly useful when using higher magnification, following moving animals or observing for extended periods. A steadier image makes it easier to concentrate on behaviour, distinguishing features and other important details.

Nine Thermal Colour Palettes

Different habitats and observation conditions can benefit from different thermal display modes. The Avilume XT50 Pro therefore provides nine thermal colour palettes, including:

A durable magnesium alloy body and IP67 weatherproof rating make the Pulsar Wildlife Avilume XT50 Pro suitable for demanding outdoor use throughout the year.

With an operating temperature range of -25°C to +50°C, the binoculars are designed to continue operating across a wide variety of habitats and weather conditions.

A supplied ¼-inch tripod mount also allows the binoculars to be mounted for prolonged stationary observation, making them particularly useful for ornithological surveys, ecological research, behavioural observation and long-term habitat monitoring.

Up to 8 Hours Battery Life

A removable and rechargeable APS5 battery provides up to 8 hours of operating time, depending upon temperature and operating conditions.

Built-In Photo, Video & Audio Recording
