The PIXFRA Mile 3 M625 uses a 640 × 512 vanadium oxide thermal detector with a 12μm pixel pitch. By displaying temperature differences rather than relying on visible light, it helps wildlife observers locate animals during evening walks, nocturnal surveys and early-morning observation.
Thermal sensitivity of ≤15mK NETD at F1.0 supports the detection of small temperature differences between an animal and its background. Combined with the F0.9 objective lens and PIPS 3.0 Pro technology, this provides a capable thermal imaging system for observing both wildlife and surrounding habitat.
The M625’s 25mm lens delivers a broad 17.4° × 13.9° field of view, equivalent to 30.6 × 24.4 metres at 100 metres. This wide view is useful when searching an area for movement or following animals as they travel across the scene.
Base magnification is 1.2×, with 1–8× digital zoom available to enlarge the displayed image. Manual focusing and a close-focus distance of one metre provide flexibility for observation at different distances. The manufacturer specifies a detection distance of up to 1,300 metres.
A 0.49-inch OLED display with 1920 × 1080 resolution presents the thermal image through an eyepiece with adjustable dioptre correction. The 50Hz frame rate supports smooth viewing when scanning the landscape or following moving wildlife.
Six colour palettes—White Hot, Black Hot, Iron Red, Alarm, Green Hot and Sepia—provide a choice of image presentations. Picture-in-Picture and Hot Spot Tracking offer additional viewing options, while an integrated compass helps maintain awareness of direction.
Photograph and video recording allow observations to be saved to the built-in 64GB memory. The M625 also includes a microphone, a local media album and a Wi-Fi hotspot, providing useful options for documenting wildlife encounters.
A control wheel combines three functions within a compact design. The quick-change rechargeable 18650 battery provides at least five hours of operation at 25°C with Wi-Fi switched off, and its replaceable format allows a charged spare to be carried for longer outings.
The magnesium-alloy housing combines low weight with durable construction. IP67 protection and an operating temperature range of -30°C to +55°C support regular outdoor use, while the compact 160mm body fits easily into a wildlife observation kit.
